Passover menu and other stuff

Hello Dear Friends!!

Hope you’re doing well. Things are cookin’ over here (pun intended)!

First of all, check out my logo! Thanks so much to you-know-who-you-are for ever-so-patiently working with me on this. It’s so good to have talented and generous (and temporarily unemployed) friends. After a few more small tweaks, the website family-provisions.com will be ready to launch SOON. Stay toooooooooned!!

This past weekend featured some big and fun and delicious events; on Saturday I catered a big birthday party, and it went tremendously well. It feels so good and so rare to work hard on something, serve it to people you love, and get immediate and enthusiastic feedback **thanks so much to this community of supportive and lovely friends**. Have an event coming up? Get in touch with me!!

On Sunday I brought some vegan/GF baked treats to the Autonomous Zine Fest. It’s not really widely advertised, but if you show up in Clark Park on the last Saturday of April around 3:00pm and you’ll likely see me and several crafty DIY folks selling, bartering and trading their wares. It was a beautiful scene on a gorgeous West Philly day.

Last but not least in the world of events: If I can get insurance and licensing squared away before then, I’m hoping to participate in the West Craft Fest on April 26th at The Woodlands. Keep an eye out for an update and hope to see you then!

NOTE: You may have received an email requesting a testimonial or comments that I could use on my website. If you haven’t done so already, please jot down some thoughts and send them my way. I’m hoping to rely largely on word-of-mouth for marketing, and the praise of former/existing clients counts a LOT when it comes to attracting new clients. Thank you thank you thank you!!

Upcoming Menu:

This year - 5785 - Passover starts on Saturday April 12th and goes to Sunday April 20. Any holiday that involves a big meal is tops for me, and this is a favorite - not only for the food which is just delicious and takes me back to childhood and grandparents who are long gone but not forgotten. But the symbolism of the food and the table and the rituals and welcoming of strangers and singing together is just so wonderful and meaningful. And - at least in my home - the traditions of Passover are progressive, open to change and modification to include both ancient and contemporary circumstances. Our next menu is not exactly Kosher but feel free to pick and choose, and ask if you need ingredient lists:

Beef Brisket
Noodle Kugel
Matzo Ball Soup
Charoset
Spinach and Matzo Pie
Chocolate or Plain Coconut Macaroons

The timing this week is a little funky because I’ll be out of town April 12th (the first Seder) to the 22nd. So please put in your order HERE by Monday April 7 for pickup/delivery on Friday the 11th (and bake-it-yourself or reheat for your seder on the 12th). Foods are always better the next day anyway, right?

Thanks for reading and for all of your support. May your seder plate be big and inclusive and welcoming to hold oranges, beets, olives, Miriam’s cup, fair-trade coffee and chocolate, artichoke and even tomatoes* alongside the maror, charoset, karpas, z’roa, and beitzah and whatever symbolizes the plight of marginalized and oppressed peoples.

Love, Casey
